The Position

FanDuel Sports Network (FDSN) is seeking a Broadcast Engineer to join the South & Southeast Regional Sports Networks (RSN), and the nationwide Broadcast Engineering team based at the Atlanta, GA Media Operations Center. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, this position is responsible for all engineering functions supporting FDSN’s South & Southeast live studio production, live broadcast events, pre and post-production, and equipment maintenance. This role will provide complete professional engineering support for the RSN, plus provide support to the Media Operations Center (up to 40% of role).

This is an on-site position, located in Atlanta, GA.

The Game Plan

(What you will do)

  • South & Southeast RSN’s
    • Responsible for all technical aspects of the installation, maintenance, repair and replacement of studio production equipment, production editing systems, central equipment room and field ENG equipment.
    • Provide engineering support for Production department, with coordination of remote production locations with the home studio. This includes assisting with equipment setup, testing, and maintenance of field equipment that supports remote truck productions and home studio-based productions.
    • Coordinate new equipment training and develop new procedures for Production Operators.
    • Manage transmission feed connections and testing for individual show feeds from sports venues, Live U, telecom fiber circuits, private line network, and internet streaming devices.
    • Provide engineering support for Avid editing system with IBM archive LTO.
    • Update software versions and follow company Broadcast Data Network directives for IT security.
    • Support and maintain Broadcast Data Network Networking Equipment.
    • Coordinate and perform broadcast equipment preventative and demand maintenance.
    • Occasionally support Corp IT desktop PC’s and telecom equipment in the facility.
  • Media Operations Center
    • Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations.
    • Create and develop preventative system maintenance plans, problems resolution check list, and system for tracking transmission logs.
    • Maintain and update flypack transmission units sent to remote venues.
    • Identify needed replacement parts for repair work on FDSN gear.
    • Test and evaluate FDSN transmission equipment and create RMAs for repair work as necessary.
    • On demand presence is required to work on any outages and issues including but not limited to supporting Atlanta DOC, DTC equipment, Amazon equipment, contribution network etc. during live or non-live hours, overnights, and weekends.
The Stats

(What to bring)

  • 4 years of experience in television engineering and operations.
  • Familiarity with AVID editing software (or other MAM systems).
  • Knowledge in all areas of technical production and familiarity with all production equipment
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively in a team atmosphere.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and weekend shifts, as well as the availability to respond to emergencies and urgent issues via phone calls or text messages during all times of on-air productions.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to quickly learn new tools and technologies.
  • Experience working on, and knowledge of digital and social platforms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering preferred or comparable advanced knowledge attained through work experience and/or intellectual instruction.

The RSNs produce over 3,000 live local professional telecasts each year in addition to a wide variety of locally produced sports events and programs.
