Organizational Setting
FAO's office for Sudan is responsible for developing, promoting, overseeing and implementing agreed strategies for addressing countrywide food, agriculture and rural development priorities under Sudan. It develops and maintains relations with the relevant Ministries at country level. This position is based in FAO Representation in Port Sudan, Sudan. The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.
Reporting Lines
The Programme Support Specialist will report directly to the FAO Representative working closely with the Operations Team, project managers of programmes which are sponsored by China and other colleagues within the country office. The incumbent will work as part of a multidisciplinary team with a focus on the country office programme.
Technical Focus
Resource Mobilization, Donor Relations, partnership, capacity development and programming support of the country office programme.

Tasks And Responsibilities
- Support in the formulation/ drafting and writing of proposal, negotiations meetings with the donor.
- Assist the FAO Representation in negotiating funding agreement, drafting and formulating projects and writing the project proposals and related documents for the country office particularly for the programmes sponsored by China.
- Participate and represent the country office in meetings with donor and support the Country Office in reporting particularly in the specified language for both the financial and narrative.
- Collaborate with communication teams to organize and facilitate marketing and outreach activities related to FAO’s assigned projects.
- Assist country representative to establish and maintain regular contacts with the donor and ensure provision of updated information in relation to the programme.
- Support the delegation during the study tours and prepare the specifications for the required inputs as specified in the project documents.
- Support the country representative in translation of the documents from Chinese to English and support in reporting.
- Prepare various written outputs, e.g. drafts background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc
- Perform other related duties when required.
Minimum Requirements
- University degree in livestock, veterinary, fishery production, agriculture, international relation
- At least 2 years of related professional experience in programme and technical extension work
- Working knowledge of English and Chinese

- Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in complex emergency context in field positions.
- Hands-on experience and proven records of monitoring complex programmes and/or projects, and coordination with different stakeholders.
- Demonstrated work experience and skills in project management including familiarity with the development of results frameworks, logical framework, and results-based project work plans and budget.
- Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to write clear and concise reports is considered a strong asset.
- Strong skills in organizing and leading consultative processes involving various stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills and experience working in multicultural environment.
- Good communication, writing and presentation skills in English.
- Knowledge of FAO’s core mandated areas is an advantage.
