Far Hills Country Day School seeks an innovative K-8 STEAM Teacher to elevate our new STEAM curriculum. After introducing the SAM Labs STEAM program in Spring 2025, we aim to expand our offerings in VEX Robotics, 3D printing, and laser engraving. This role will be instrumental in developing a cross-curricular approach to STEAM education, collaborating with departments and classroom teachers to bring hands-on, inquiry-driven learning to our students. The ideal candidate is a visionary educator passionate about fostering creativity and innovation.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver an engaging K-8 SAM Labs curriculum while integrating our other hands-on learning tools
- Create project-based learning experiences, which will include exploration, experimentation, and collaboration.
- Support differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Collaborate with colleagues from other disciplines to develop STEAM experiences across the curriculum.
- Establish and maintain a state-of-the-art STEAM lab ensuring that materials and equipment are accessible, safe, and up to date.
- Assess and track student progress using various formative and summative assessment methods.
- Foster a growth mindset and enthusiasm for innovation among students.
- Participate in grade-level and department meetings to coordinate curricular projects and provide targeted support towards STEAM instructional approaches as well as work within the Academic Technology department responsibilities.
- Create and lead parent education opportunities centered on STEAM learning.
- Performs other duties as needed, including but not limited to Cafe duty, Recess duty, Arrival duty, and/or Dismissal duty.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experiences (preferred but not required):
- Capstone project for the middle school
- Organize an annual STEAM-focused assembly featuring a guest speaker and live demonstration
- Plan and implement a STEAM/Science Fair to highlight student innovation and inquiry
- Launch an afterschool STEAM program using the SAM Labs curriculum.
- A collaborative innovator who builds strong relationships with faculty to integrate STEAM across the curriculum
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Master's degree in Education in a STEAM-related focus area.
- Three or more years of teaching experience in a K-8 environment
- Experience in working with a STEAM curriculum, coding, robotics, 3D and digital design
- Proven ability to develop cross-curricular projects and relationships
- Lifelong learner and willing to continue to grow in the position
Hours: Teaching Faculty are required to be present from 7:55 AM until 4:00 PM, plus faculty meetings after school hours. Teachers are also expected to attend certain school-wide events.
