Purchasing Agent/Buyer

Far North Supply, a locally owned company, is seeking a purchasing agent/buyer to join our rapidly expanding team. We are looking for a full-time team member with customer service and / or retail sales experience. This position is Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm.

Some responsibilities will include: answering phones, greeting customers, and completing sales transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work together with Sales associates to support customer needs by determining the best products and solutions.
• Ensuring the delivery of personalized customer service through timely quotations and accurate sales orders.
• Coordinate deliveries on behalf of customers.
• Answer sales calls for general information, addressing and resolving customer concerns or questions.

· Ability to learn inventory and pull orders as needed.

· Check-in vendor backorders as they arrive.

· Basic computer skills

· Logistics: Be familiar with or the ability to learn and comprehend timelines from the states to Alaska, and within Alaska, the ability to communicate this knowledge to the customer clearly and positively.

· Mathematical skills, basics: percentages, mark-ups, absolutely necessary, repetitive and accurate basic math (add, subtract, multiply and divide), sales oriented. Excel or spreadsheet formula knowledge and operation skills are useful and directly applicable.

Qualifications:

· Must have excellent verbal / written communication skills.

· Self motivated, self starting, willing to take the initiative, learn on one’s feet, produce sales and cultivate quality customer relationships.

· Able to lift 50 lbs.

· Must have a clean criminal background.

· Minimum education requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent.

· Have the ability to work as part of a team.
