What are the responsibilities and job description for the Retail Support Technician position at Fareway Stores, Inc.?
The Retail Support Technician will install, troubleshoot, and repair computer systems, hardware, computer peripherals and retail industry specific devices at local and remote locations. They will resolve retail store associates’ problems via phone, email or in person and ensure correct operation of retail computers and industry devices.
The ideal candidate must be organized, willing to travel daily and show aptitude for hands-on technical service work. This position is located at the Retail Support office in Boone, Iowa and will also consist of some weekend work and overnight stays. Hotels, per-diem and mileage will be paid.
RESPONSIBILTLIES:
- Identify, research and resolve technical problems to retail stores for computer, application, system, device, access and hardware issues.
- Hardware repair – diagnose hardware issues and repair point of sale equipment like printers, scales, self-check outs, scanners and computers.
- Installation of new technologies – install equipment at new stores and remove and replace aging equipment at stores as needed.
- Telephone support – ensure that store associate questions are answered completely in a professional, caring and responsive manner
- Skill improvement – continually strive to improve the cognitive and technical skills necessary to perform the job. This includes technical competency and proficiency with point-of-sale technology, as well as associated hardware and operating systems; problem solving ability and verbal and written communication skills.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Aptitude for technological equipment repair
