What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian position at Farley Community Church?
Principle Function:
The custodian performs janitorial/custodial services and makes minor repairs associated with the buildings and grounds that comprise the campus of Farley Community Church. The exact responsibilities of this staff person will be coordinated with and defined by the Church.
Responsibilities:
1. Maintain clean facilities throughout the Farley Community Church campus. This includes, but is not limited to, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and trash/garbage removal. Other tasks may be required in order to maintain facilities.
2. Must be physically able to run a buffing machine for floor care, lift 30 pounds, and to set up and take down tables and chairs for various church functions.
3. Maintain clean restrooms (designated) and replenish supplies. Work with administrator to order needed supplies.
4. Make minor repairs as directed or needed. Examples of minor repairs include, but are not limited to, changing air filters, changing ceiling light bulbs, and cleaning windows and whiteboards. You will be trained in changing flush valves on commercial commodes and standard commodes, and how to shut water off to commercial commodes and standard commodes.
5. You will also be trained in the operation of a carpet cleaning machine for spot cleaning rugs and carpets. You will be trained in the use and care of a floor scrubber for floor cleaning in large areas.
6. You will be responsible for installing and maintaining the 2 different camera systems. Other duties in similar nature and level of difficulty are required.
7. Maintain flower/shrub areas and parking lots surrounding the buildings as directed. Examples include maintaining shrubbery, flower beds, children's play equipment, and sweeping the sidewalks and entryways.
8. Operate heating and cooling equipment filters, thermostats, duct alarms according to schedule and instructions.
9. Move furniture, set up tables and chairs for suppers, banquets and other similar occasions. Set up educational areas for regular and special activities as assigned.
10.Prepare facilities for special use as requested by supervisor. Take down and set up worship center chairs after functions.
11.Move baptistry into worship center. Empty baptistry and place back in storage position after its use.
12.Report to supervisor any problems or deficiencies noticed in, about, or around the property.
Other Requirements:
1. Must be a team player. We work hard and we work in unity in a shared ministry.
2. Must be capable of maintaining a good working relationship with the church staff, church families, daycare workers, and children of various ages.
3. Must be a US citizen and pass a routine background check.
4. This position requires 40 hours per week. Work hours may be modified by the Church Administrator in order to accommodate events.
