What You'll Do: As our Ag UW Shared Services Intern you will assist Underwriters across our Ag UW Shared Services department. You will have project opportunities within the Shared Services department, in addition to potential projects for our products and personal lines underwriters.
This internship is a part of the Insure Your Future program by the Iowa Economic Development Authority. The program is for college sophomores or students that have most recently completed their sophomore year, but college freshmen may also be considered. This is an early-stage internship program designed to introduce you to career opportunities in Iowa's insurance industry. In addition to real-world experience, interns will enjoy opportunities to meet, network, and develop leadership skills through a series of leadership development sessions.
Our internship program holds an 80/10/10 approach, meaning that 80% of your work time will involve performing tasks or working on projects within your hired work area. Another 10% of the time, you will be exposed to learning in other areas within your assigned division to get more corporate experience. Then, the final 10% will be spent in shared experiences across the organization, where you will get to really learn about our culture and work environment.
This opportunity is a great way for you to get your foot in the door gaining entry level underwriting and insurance experience, as well as general corporate real-world exposure.

What It Takes To Join Our Team
- Be a college sophomore or recently completed their sophomore year, but college freshmen may also be considered. Ag major is preferred.
- A quick learner who is looking to learn new concepts and ideas, and able to learn basic understanding of property insurance policies.
- Familiarity with Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred.
- Must be detail oriented and willing to ask questions.
- Be available to work 38.75 hours per week during the Summer 2025 from our office in West Des Moines, IA. Must attend four Insure Your Future leadership development sessions in the Des Moines metro area.
