Description / Job SummaryThe Crop Insurance Service Specialist processes and services Multi Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI), Crop Hail (CH) and Private Product insurance policies.  This position will provide accurate and efficient service to Farm Credit Illinois’ agents and their members through technical policy support, exceptional internal processing and collaborative teamwork.This position's location is negotiable within the Farm Credit Illinois territory.Responsibilities / DutiesDocument Processing

  • Collects and tracks documents related to crop insurance policies
  • Reviews documents for accuracy and completeness and requests additional information when needed
  • Monitors process to ensure completion of documents and compliance with requirements
  • Resolves issues and refers elevated issues to others for resolution
  • Keys data into appropriate internal database(s) and propriety software programs
  • Processes insurance forms timely and accurately from the time they are received to getting them into the Approved Insurance Providers (AIP) software programs
  • Promptly addresses and communicates agent concerns with documentation
  • Contacts Approved Insurance Providers and Regional Offices as needed for policy information, ensuring time-sensitive documents are handled with priorityCrop Insurance Underwriting
  • Underwrites MPCI and private product crop insurance policies by : o    Verifying forms are complete and accurateo    Ensuring all supporting documentation is suppliedo    Confirming the validity of applications based on government actuarial dataSubject Matter Expertise / Projects
  • Provides information and training on Crop Insurance Service Division processes and procedures to regional office teams
  • Recommends and implements process improvements to create efficiencies
  • Communicates directly with regional office staff and facilitates communication between the AIPs and regional staff keeping a close working relationship between the two.  Works independently and with team to recognize problems, provide analysis, determine solutions and recommend appropriate communication of resolution
  • Provides information and works with regional office staff to accurately maintain the internal customer relationship database and document management systems
  • Works on projects throughout the crop year such as batching documents such as applications, schedules with production, actual production history (APH) and Pasture, Rangeland, Forage (PRF) forms, 578 keying, conservation compliance, outstanding premium reports, pre-apps and internal transfers and mappingPerforms and / or participates in special projects and other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the organizationData Security and Confidentiality
  • Appropriately protects the confidentiality, security, and integrity of the Association’s systems and data and clients’ data Required SkillsInsurance license required within 6 months of the date of hire Working knowledge of the agriculture industrySkill in listening and conveying awareness of a problem or issue to find resolutionOral and written communication skills, sufficient to exchange information effectively with peers, supervisor and membersSkill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner Skill in gathering, compiling and organizing informationSkill in utilizing time in an efficient and effective mannerSkill in working as part of a team and collaborating with colleaguesSkill in performing a variety of duties under the stress of frequent interruptions or distractionsSkill in processing complex, detailed forms and documents in an accurate and thorough mannerSkill in quickly learning and utilizing Microsoft Office and other software to increase efficiency and / or effectivenessRequired EducationAssociate’s degree in agriculture, business or a related fieldNo prior work experience required;Or equivalent education, experience, and skillset sufficient to perform the essential functions of the jobFor more information regarding benefit information and to submit an application, please click APPLY TO THIS POSITION below.
