Custodian for meat processing facility

Basic Purpose

Distribute safety, sanitation, production, and other supplies to plant employees; clean and maintain break rooms and employee restrooms; clean, sanitize and prepare employee supplies and tools for next day production, and otherwise support the overall safety and sanitation of plant operations.

This is a Dirty job. We are a poultry processing and packaging facility. At times you may come in contact with turkey feathers, blood, and/or feces.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Hand out supplies to employees, including coats, gloves, sleeves, hairnets, earmuffs, etc.
• Receive and count stock supplies. Record and monitor supply quantities to ensure sufficient supply quantities for production. Reorder supplies as necessary.
• Pack or unpack items to be stocked on shelves in supply room. Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in the supply room.
• Keep the supply hallway and supply bins well stocked, clean, and tidy. Restock supplies in the supply room and on hallway bins, as necessary.
• Retrieve used knives and scissors from production departments and transport to supply room. Clean knives and scissors in preparation for the next day’s production.
• Gather cardboard from departments and transfer it by hand or cart to appropriate area for disposal.
• Ensure and participate in compliance measures to meet GMP, HACCP, SQF and federal standards related to food safety and quality guidelines.
• Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety and sanitation regulations.
• Fill and maintain footbaths with disinfectant solution at all applicable entryways into production areas of plant.
• Launder re-usable supply items such as cotton gloves, and coats.
• Retrieve soiled re-usable items from receptacles in hallway or plant.
• Load soiled articles into washer.
• Add detergents, bleach, and other solutions to clean items.
• Transfer clean items from washer to dryer.
• Sort articles removed from dryer, and fold or hang them.
• Maintain the appearance and general cleanliness of upstairs and downstairs break room.
• Remove larger trash items from the floor and tables and put in appropriate waste receptacles.
• Restock paper towels in dispenser as necessary.
• Clean tables in the break room with spray cleaner or soapy water and cloth.
• Sweep floors and remove debris with dustpan.
• Wet mop floors using mop and wringer bucket.
• Empty trash receptacles and replace trash bags.
• Clean vending machines and microwaves.
• Maintain the appearance and general cleanliness of the upstairs and downstairs restrooms.
• Remove larger trash items from the floor and put in appropriate waste receptacles.
• Restock paper towels and toilet paper in dispensers as necessary.
• Clean toilets with cleaner and brush; clean hand washing sinks.
• Empty trash receptacles and replace trash bags.
• Perform other related responsibilities, as needed, to support Plainville Farms and Mega International business objectives.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 – 45 per week
