Basic Purpose
This role plays a critical part in overall success of the farm operations within the vaccination crew. Looking for someone who enjoys being around animals. This role has primary responsibilities for the animal care and welfare of the birds through vaccination protocols.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Drive to various farms daily within a 100-mile radius
2. Prepare & Administer Vaccines to live turkeys
3. Utilize backpack weighing up to 50# for 1-2 hour durations
4. Maintain accurate records
5. Adhere to all safety protocols
6. Maintain vaccine inventory levels
7. Ensure compliance with all regulations
8. Follow all biosecurity protocols
9. Follow all animal welfare protocols and report any deviances from the program
10. Ensure vaccinations are complete within specified timeline
11. Perform other comparable and related duties, as assigned.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
· Ability to understand oral and written instructions and perform simple task
· Animal husbandry experience preferred but not required.
· Valid driver's license and clean driving record
· Current health card or ability to obtain
· Ability to work well in teams
· Ability to self -motivate and work autonomously
· Ability to work a flexible schedule
· Poultry experience preferred but not required
· Ability to use basic computer programs (excel, word, outlook)
· 1-2 years working with livestock or poultry preferred
· Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Position requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy
Physical Demands
· Sitting 30%- Walking/Standing 70%
· Ability to perform work that is repetitive in nature
· Ability to stand for long periods of time
· Ability to grip, grasp, or twist using hands and wrist
· Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50lbs
· Ability Bend and stoop throughout the shift
Work Environment
· Ongoing presence of farm-related smells or foul odors
· Prolonged exposure to dry and dusty environments, PPE provided
· Travel time in company vehicle
· Occasional climate variation
· Occasional on-call status for emergencies
