Sporting Goods Department Head
Reports to: Store Manager, Assistant Manager or Supervisor on Duty

JOB SUMMARY:
To provide the best customer service and maximize sales through efficient execution of Company procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Help customers with special order requests and locate merchandise as well as inform customers of helpful product knowledge. Greeting customers within a ten-foot radius.
- Verify proper product rotation and basic stocking of merchandise in multiple departments.
- Must have basic knowledge of Farm & Home web-based Intranet and The Outfitter systems.
- Remove damaged merchandise from the floor as needed and review and correct outages and overstocks in order to supply proper inventory levels.
- Follow company guidelines for department merchandising and setting store ads and sale signage.
- Identify and display the latest items at designated locations with departmental management approval.
- Demonstrate strong merchandising presentation skills for in-aisles, end caps and displays.
- Ensure a safe and clean work environment while following loss prevention and safety procedures.
- Attend store and job-related meetings along with reviewing the F&H Weekly Update that is distributed to each store every Monday.
- Professionally communicate with Customers, Management, and all store employees.
- Follow all applicable Company, local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Assist with price changes, markdowns, and merchandise labeling.
- Operate cash registers and assist with customer carry-outs.
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Weightlifting capability up to and including 80 lbs.
- Maintain and control organized stock room area.
- Complete required on-line Job Training available on our Outfitters website.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complete special projects directed by management and additional responsibilities may be assigned throughout the store at any given time.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS-EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
- Minimum age requirement for this position is 21 years old. Illinois residents must carry a valid Firearm Owners Identification [F.O.I.D.] card and Missouri/Iowa residents-must have a valid Driver’s License.
- Must possess great customer service and communication skills.
- Six months of previous retail experience is preferred.
- Positive attitude with a passion for collaborating with Team Members that want to grow.
