Job Description :
We are seeking an experienced Nursery Manager to lead and oversee operations at our plant nursery, specializing in trees, shrubs, roses, and perennials. This role combines horticultural expertise with exceptional leadership and customer service skills. The Nursery Manager is responsible for ensuring efficient day-to-day operations, driving sales, managing inventory, and leading a team to achieve our strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities :
Provide exceptional customer service to ensure every customer leaves with a positive experience.Actively recruit and support new customers and team members.Enforce and maintain company policies and procedures.Monitor and achieve departmental sales goals.Manage and track inventory, ensuring proper levels and reducing waste.Order inventory to maintain availability of key products.Create engaging and visually appealing merchandise displays and signage.Collaborate with other departments to cross-merchandise products.Develop and maintain schedules to ensure adequate department coverage.Lead and supervise nursery staff, providing regular feedback and performance evaluations.Address and resolve customer complaints and personnel conflicts.Attend staff meetings, training sessions, trade shows, and company events.Oversee plant health, including pest and disease control.Implement sustainable and environmentally friendly nursery practices.Manage day-to-day operations, including planting, watering, pruning, and care of plants.Maintain professional and neat appearance, adhering to company standards.Assist other departments as needed to ensure smooth store operations.Requirements :
Proven experience in nursery management or a related field.Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Plant Science, Agriculture, or equivalent experience (preferred).Strong knowledge of plant propagation, cultivation techniques, and plant health care.Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.Proficiency with POS systems, inventory management software, and Microsoft Office.Physical ability to stand / walk for up to 10 hours, lift 50 lbs repeatedly, and work outdoors in all weather conditions.Extensive product knowledge, including trees, shrubs, roses, and perennials.Flexibility to adapt to a fast-paced environment and embrace new ideas or changes.Why Join Farmer John's?
