The General Laborer assists the Grain Elevator Operator with cleaning and maintenance of the elevator facility, performs grain handling operations, and provides support in the feed and fertilizer warehouse. This position requires adherence to safety protocols, effective communication skills, and collaborative teamwork.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver excellent customer service by managing challenging situations professionally, responding promptly to needs, and resolving concerns immediately
- Demonstrate initiative and teamwork by assisting all departments as needed
- Assist with grain elevator operations: Unload grain trucks, clean and maintain elevator equipment and facilities.
- Load outbound grain shipments.
- Support feed and fertilizer warehouse operations as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout facilities
- Fill propane tanks according to safety standards
- Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner
- Handle multiple priorities and interruptions with patience and professionalism
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with customers, colleagues, and management
- Understand and comply with all relevant safety and regulatory requirements
- Participate actively in safety and training sessions
- Maintain attention to detail and professional appearance
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
Qualified candidates may have less than high school education with at least one month of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates must be willing to pursue continuing education, training opportunities, and professional development as needed for the position.

Requirements
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
Physical Demands
This position requires regular physical activities such as standing, walking, sitting, and using hands with manual dexterity. The job involves climbing ladders (ranging from 20' to 180') and stairs, regularly lifting and moving 50 pounds, and occasionally handling 75-100 pounds. Employees must be comfortable operating a grain elevator man lift with a 300-pound weight limit and working in confined spaces. Good vision including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception is necessary for performing job duties safely.
Work Environment
The work environment includes regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, grain dust, and airborne particles. Employees work in various weather conditions including extreme temperatures and humidity. The position involves interaction with chemicals, experiencing vibration, working at heights and in confined spaces, and tolerating elevated noise levels. Awareness of potential electrical hazards is essential for maintaining safety in this environment.
