This opportunity in the Agent Development (Protégé) Program is perfect for someone who wants to break into the insurance industry but may not have prior experience. Here's an overview of what you can expect and what you'll need to succeed:

Key Features of the Protégé Program:

  • No Experience Needed: You don’t need prior insurance experience or a degree to apply. Farmers provides comprehensive training to help you learn the ropes.
  • Hands-On Experience: You'll get to work closely with an established agency, gaining real-world experience in sales, marketing, and customer service.
  • Salary Commissions: During the program, you'll earn both a salary and commissions, allowing you to start earning as you learn.
  • License Support: If you don't already have the necessary Property & Casualty and Life & Health licenses, Farmers will assist you in obtaining them.
  • No Capital Requirement: Upon successful completion, you’ll be eligible to receive an established book of business without any upfront fees or franchise costs. You'll then be able to open your own agency.

A Day in the Life of a Protégé Agent:

  • Lead Development: You'll be actively prospecting, setting appointments, and identifying customers' needs. Networking, cold calling, and referrals will be key sources of leads.
  • Mentorship: You will work alongside a mentor agent, learning the ins and outs of the business, and meeting marketing goals.
  • Customer Service: Answering calls and emails regarding policies, coverage, and claims will be a part of your daily responsibilities.
  • Training: You’ll attend training sessions to develop your skills in sales, product knowledge, and customer service.

Requirements:

  • Licensing: Property & Casualty, and Life & Health licenses (Farmers will assist you in the process if you don't have them yet).
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must, as you’ll be interacting with clients regularly.
  • Tech-Savvy: Familiarity with Microsoft products and the ability to quickly learn other systems is necessary.
  • Self-Starter: This program requires someone who is confident and can work well independently.
  • Sales Goals: You should be comfortable working toward meeting sales goals.
  • Multitasking: The ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment will be essential.
  • Authorization to Work in the U.S.: This is a requirement for eligibility.

Preferred Skills:

  • Sales & Marketing: If you have prior experience in sales, that’s a bonus, but it's not a requirement.
  • Insurance Knowledge: Familiarity with insurance terms and products will help, but Farmers will provide all the necessary training.
