Job Summary
The individual in this position is responsible for assisting the Chief Compliance Officer with oversight and administration of the Bank’s Compliance Management system. This individual will provide oversight and guidance to the Compliance staff to ensure that the regulatory policies are current, monitoring of high risk items is conducted and reported timely. In addition, this individual will assist the Chief Compliance Officer with monitoring compliance related emerging regulatory issues, monitoring activities and internal audit issues. This individual will also assist with training and mentoring the Compliance staff members. This individual must demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to resolve regulatory/audit issues and/or problems in a professional and timely manner. This individual works under limited supervision and will need to regularly exercise independent judgment and decision making abilities. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Ensure the bank is in compliance with all state and federal banking compliance laws and regulations.
- Monitor federal and state regulatory changes and notify the Chief Compliance Officer of potential impacts.
- Assist the Chief Compliance Officer with developing, revising and implementing compliance related policies and procedures and addressing various compliance issues.
- Assist the Chief Compliance Officer with oversight of Bank’s regulatory related internal audits.
- Assist the Chief Compliance Officer with oversight of HMDA data for quarterly validation and annual submission.
- Assist the Chief Compliance Officer with oversight and second reviews of the various compliance monitoring reviews.
- Assist the Chief Compliance Officer with regulatory risk assessments.
- Assist the Chief Compliance Officer with oversight of fair lending comparative analysis and produce related management reports.
- Assist the Chief Compliance Officer with process improvement recommendations, as necessary
- Participate in various projects to provide regulatory compliance oversight.
- Assist the Chief Compliance Officer with collaborating with Training Department on annual compliance training plan.
- Review marketing materials as needed for adherence to compliance laws and regulations.
- Assist the Chief Compliance Officer with revisions to bank-wide policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by the Chief Compliance Officer / Enterprise Risk Officer.
Education & Skills Required
- The ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing in a professional and effective manner to bank personnel, management, third party auditors and banking examiners.
- CRCM preferred; BA/BS degree desired.
- Individual must have a minimum of 7-10 years knowledge of banking operations and/or compliance experience (loans and deposits).
- Comprehensive knowledge & understanding of consumer lending laws and regulations which include, but not limited to the following: TILA, TRID, Flood, RESPA, HMDA, ECOA, TISA, EFTA & ESIGN.
- Detail-oriented.
- Organize projects, prioritize workflow and complete multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with emphasis on correct English grammar.
- Demonstrate ability to exercise good judgment, initiative and tact in dealing with management, supervisors, staff and the general public.
- Demonstrate in depth analytical, deductive reasoning and judgment skills.
- Strong MS Office, primarily Excel and Word knowledge.
- Active learner to ensure adequate knowledge of new and/or revised regulatory rules.
- Present a professional, business-like manner and appearance.
- Maintain confidentiality.
