SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the Market President is to deepen the Bank's relationships within the communities they oversee, partner with other Line-of-Business (LOB) heads, and serve as the public figurehead in the market for marketing, public relations and the coordination of activity between Retail, Wealth Management, Mortgage and Commercial Banking. Additionally, the Market President will directly manage and coordinate the efforts of Commercial Lenders within defined market. Duties include ensuring approved loan and operating policies are carried out by team members in accordance with the Company's established policies and procedures. The Market President will also have responsibility for the overseeing the Company's Small Business Lending activity. In addition, a key aspect of this role will for the Market President to create and strengthen relationships with employees that provides open lines of communication to foster teamwork, trust and a supportive culture. Market President's may also have individual production responsibilities depending on market conditions and/or market location.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead a team of lending officers and support staff for Commercial, Commercial Real Estate and Small Business Lending
- Oversee the sales activities of Lending team to include not only credit products and services but all products and services offered by Bank, with particular emphasis on Commercial Deposits and Treasury Services
- Additionally, the role of Market President may include specific and significant production responsibilities depending upon market conditions and/or market location. These production goals will be defined within the annual incentive scorecard for the Market President.
- Lead efforts to strengthen team's relationships with Centers of Influence (COI's) in market
- Ensure loan pricing objectives are met by establishing and adhering to specific parameters that are in alignment with corporate goals/initiatives
- In conjunction with department supervisors/managers, develop monthly, quarterly, and annual production goals and ROE targets that enable the Bank to achieve tactical and strategic lending objectives
- Possess sound and advanced analytical skills as it pertains to financial statement analysis and loan structuring/documentation
- Ensure that all lenders are kept abreast of the most recent loan terms and conditions approved by Senior Management
- Participate in loan portfolio management as a member of various committees
- Oversee and ensure appropriate Portfolio management by lending team (monitoring and resolution of past dues/delinquencies, maturities, annual reviews, collateral exceptions)
- Direct the overall function of the lending departments through a network of lending officers, department supervisors and support personnel
- Coach and develop lenders to the highest standards of product knowledge and service levels
- Participate in the lending process when necessary by attending on-site calls with lenders and/or meeting with clients in person or on the phone
- Confer with all loan officers to aid in resolving potential loan problems
- Ensure timely communication of policy, procedures and guidelines to lending personnel
- Actively participate in company-wide programs designed to enhance referrals and service standards/practices
- Participate in various cross-functional committees/teams as necessary
- Actively represent the Bank in the community through Civic, Business/Trade, Charitable organizations
- Complete all mandatory and elective training, including BSA (Bank Secrecy Act) and Anti-Money Laundering procedures. Maintain compliance with all appropriate rules and regulations
- Complete all other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees and supervises all lending and lending administration personnel. Expected to coach, train and evaluate department leaders in both informal and formal settings.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors degree in finance, accounting or management (or equivalent related experience)
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years commercial banking, commercial real estate and/or commercial lending experience, as well as credit administration experience
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven experience at matrix management
- Must have full knowledge of current banking regulations with regard to credit risk, general knowledge of all areas of banking operations, bank finance and risk management
- Proven ability to structure complex loan arrangements that adhere to the Bank's risk parameters
- Proven ability to organize complex data from multiple sources and clearly present findings and recommendations in differing formats understandable to a variety of audiences
- Knowledge of loan loss reserve and allocations
- Proven ability to effectively negotiate
- Strong client service skills for dealing with individual clients and with small groups
- Knowledge of Word, Excel, Internet navigation/research, and Outlook is expected
