What are the responsibilities and job description for the Credit Analyst I position at Farmers State Bank?
POSITION SUMMARY: Develops and analyzes information to be used by Loan Officers/Loan Committees, and the Board of Directors in extending credit to new or existing customers. Prepares loan packages identifying strengths and weaknesses and provides recommendations, noting any deviations from the loan policies as appropriate. Provides other assistance to loan officers and the credit administrator as requested.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ DUTIES:
- Analyzes financial statements (including performance ratios) to develop initial assessment by identifying strengths and weaknesses pertaining to borrower's historical operating performance
- Prepares written analysis which include:
- Credit investigation of the borrower and guarantors
- Economic and market conditions as they relate to the company, industry, and market areas
- In-depth historical financial analysis, including communicating with the borrower's accountant to gain a better understanding of the company's accounting practices
- In-depth projections of the borrower's financial statements in order to analyze future debt service ability/cash flow
- In-depth analysis of the bank's collateral position
- In-depth analysis of the secondary sources of repayment
- In-depth analysis of a guarantor's financial position.
- Collects and maintains industry data; research industry specific information from outside sources
- Provides written analysis that includes a list of all strengths and weaknesses of a credit, including approval, denial, or alternative structure, to Commercial Loan Officers
- Attends Loan Committee meetings to be available to answer questions regarding credit analysis
- Assists in the preparation of various reports detailing the status of individual accounts and the overall loan portfolio
- Participates in customer meetings as requested by officers
- Participates in special projects as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance or Accounting preferred
- 2 years of banking experience preferred, but not required
- Experience working in a professional environment a plus
