About Farmhaus
Farmhaus Cider Co. is a popular and growing cidery with locations in Grand Rapids and Hudsonville, Michigan. We are hard working, independent, and respectful. We're proudly making sought after ciders on a 150 year old family farm and orchard with a thirst for change and an ambition for better.
We've recently acquired a farm and now grow all our own fruit. The sky is truly the limit in this position and it could entail expanding into other beverage types.
We’re looking for a true leader in this position, someone to build the business with, to put in the work and who wants to commit and expects to stay for at least 5 years.
About You
You love daily physical work and enjoy seeing and tasting the results of your labor. You are a neat freak and love an organized and cleanly work environment. You have a positive, can-do attitude. This role is seen as a true partner in growing the business long-term, with intent to hold this position for 3 years.
You are passionate about crafting award-winning cider, plus have:
- Industry experience in cidermaking, winemaking, brewing, manufacturing or agriculture: at least two years – preferred
- Machinery operation and maintenance: experience with beverage production equipment and forklifts – preferred
- Software: proficiency using common software programs, particularly database and spreadsheet systems.
- Leadership: an aptitude for leadership and at least one year of supervisory experience.
- Communication skills & teamwork: strong written and verbal skills, ability to give feedback to colleagues that it is well received. Demonstrated success in teamwork and helping to foster an inclusive, positive work environment. Unafraid of failure but always striving for excellence..
- Personal aptitude: initiative and a sense of accountability for meeting targets. Curiosity, great listening skills and openness to feedback.
- Work week flexibility
- Physical requirements: The physical strength to safely and manually lift heavy items several times daily and the physical stamina to work standing up all day. Willingness to work in cold and wet conditions at times.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for cider production, including fermentation, blending, recipes and filtering with the goal of continuing to produce the highest quality cider.
- Proper documentation of all such recipes, batches and SOPs in accordance with TTB, MLCC and other regulations. Documentation should be kept current and maintained electronically.
- Recipe development and improvement while routinely creating new ciders and other beverages.
- Ability to troubleshoot fermentation issues and implement corrective actions.
- Scheduling and managing the production schedule as well as all raw material inventory, in collaboration with others as requested.
- Strong sensory evaluation skills to assess flavor profiles and identify and correct any off-flavors or defects.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple batches simultaneously and meet production deadlines while maintaining attention to detail to ensure consistency in product quality.

- Participation in events to build the Farmhaus brand amongst our peers while continuing to learn and contribute to others learning about the craft of cidermaking.
- Neat, clean, organized and professional self-starting leader able to work well independently and collaboratively with others.
- Oversee equipment maintenance and ensure proper sanitation procedures are followed.
