Position Purpose
The Warehouse Shipper is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient handling, moving, loading, and/or unloading finished pet food products in a pet food manufacturing facility. This role ensures that finished goods are properly loaded onto trucks for shipping to meet customer demands.
Work Environment
This role involves working in a fast-paced warehouse environment with exposure to loud noise, heavy forklifts, other heavy machinery, and varying temperatures. The Warehouse Shipper may be required to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift, up to 50 lbs. The Warehouse Shipper plays a key role in maintaining product quality, warehouse, organization, and shipping efficiency. PPE must be worn in designated areas.
Requirements
· 1st Shift hours are Monday through Friday 6am to 2pm. There may be times where overtime and weekend work may be required.
· 2nd Shift hours during start-up will be 10am to 6pm Monday through Friday. At some point at the end of commissioning the 2nd shift hours will change to their 2pm to 10pm schedule. There may be times where overtime and weekend work may be required.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 or more years previous forklift experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or logistics required.
- Forklift certification is preferred or the ability to obtain it within a specified timeframe.
Skills and Competencies:
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and warehouse operations.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to read and understand shipping and inventory documents.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Basic math and computer skills for data entry and inventory tracking.
Certifications (Preferred):
- Forklift Operator Certification.
- HACCP or GMP training is a plus but not required.

Key Responsibilities
1. Outbound Order Preparation & Staging
- Accurately pick and stage finished products according to customer orders and shipping schedules.
- Confirm that all goods are properly labeled, sealed, and prepared for transport per company and customer specifications.
- Match staged orders to shipping documents and ensure readiness for dispatch.
2. Truck Loading & Dispatch
- Safely and efficiently load outbound shipments onto trucks or containers, following load plans and securing cargo to prevent damage in transit.
- Verify accuracy of packing lists, bills of lading, and other shipping documents before vehicle departure.
- Coordinate with drivers and logistics to ensure timely and accurate truck departures.
3. Shipping Documentation & System Updates
- Record shipment details into warehouse management or ERP systems in real time.
- Generate and manage the required shipping documents and labels to ensure regulatory and customer compliance.
- Maintain accurate shipping logs and report discrepancies immediately to supervisors.
4. Quality & Safety Compliance
- Perform final quality checks on outgoing goods, ensuring they meet packaging, labeling, and appearance standards.
- Adhere to all GMP, OSHA, and food safety regulations, including use of PPE and safe lifting techniques.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free shipping dock, always.
5. Equipment Operation & Maintenance
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment required to transport and load outbound shipments.
- Conduct pre-operation inspections and promptly report equipment issues or maintenance needs.
- Follow all safe operating procedures when handling material handling equipment.
6. Cross Department Coordination
- Communicate effectively with production, inventory, logistics, and quality teams to resolve shipment issues and meet delivery schedules.
- Participate in daily shipping meetings or briefings to align with operational priorities.
7. General Warehouse Support
- Assist with housekeeping, pallet organization, and empty trailer management at the loading dock.
- Support other shipping or material handling tasks as directed to ensure operational efficiency.
