SWIM INSTRUCTOR - SUMMER 2025

Description

Responsible for providing high-quality swim instruction to members and guests of all ages during Spring and Summer seasons. Swim Instructors demonstrate and communicate skilled knowledge in swimming while creating a safe, encouraging, and engaging learning environment.

• You're Patient and Understanding: You know that everyone learns differently and at their own pace. You stay calm and encouraging, whether working with an anxious toddler or an adult beginner.
• You Can Adapt Your Teaching Style: You're creative in finding ways to help students learn. One minute you're making swimming fun with games for young kids, the next you're breaking down technical strokes for an advanced student.
• You Put Safety First: You keep a watchful eye on your students and maintain a safe environment while making lessons engaging and fun.
• You're a Clear Communicator: You can explain swimming techniques in ways that make sense to different age groups. You keep parents informed about their child's progress and listen to their concerns.
• You're Professional and Reliable: You show up prepared for every lesson, keep good records of student progress, and take pride in helping others succeed in the water.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and conduct swim lessons for various age groups and skill levels
• Assess students' abilities and adapt teaching methods accordingly
• Implement age-appropriate games and activities to enhance learning
• Track and document student progress
• Maintain accurate records of attendance and achievements
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians about student progress
• Ensure safety protocols are followed during all lessons
• Maintain cleanliness of teaching areas
• Attend regular staff meetings and training sessions
• Participate in program development and improvement initiatives

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum age of sixteen (16) years
• Commit to minimum of ten (10) hours per week
• One (1) year swim instructor experience strongly preferred
• Professional communication skills
• Strong organizational abilities
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work with children from six (6) months to adults
• Demonstrated swimming proficiency
• Patient and empathetic teaching style

Required Certifications (Don't worry - we can help you get these!):

• Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or equivalent
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer
• First Aid Certification
• AED Training
