    The Farmington Public School District has an opening for an Elementary Social Studies Curriculum Specialist August 2025.

    Qualifications:

    • CT State Teaching Certification
    • Consideration will be given to the following:

      • Coursework and training that indicates strong content knowledge
      • Relevant and recent leadership experience, including instructional coaching
      • Classroom teaching experience at the elementary level
      • References that indicate excellent instructional skills, initiative, and a learner mindset
      • Philosophy that aligns with the district’s core beliefs
      • Various life experiences that enhance contributions to the overall district and/or school community

    General Description:

    Coordinators provide effective curriculum planning and instructional support to teachers aimed at ensuring that students learn core content knowledge and skills as well as the competencies and dispositions described in the FPS Vision of the Global Citizen. Curriculum Coordinators develop and monitor curriculum and assessment implementation. They work closely with school principals and leadership teams to plan and provide professional learning experiences that are responsive to teacher needs and focused on school goals and priorities. They participate in state and national organizations to ensure that Farmington schools are on the leading edge of innovative work in their field of study. Coordinators support family engagement and inclusive school communities through their engagement with curriculum-focused family events and learning celebrations. Coordinators develop learning experiences that are culturally enriching, cognitively irresistible, and aligned with state assessment standards. They support principals and teacher leaders in building the capacity of all teachers to bring the curriculum to life in their day to day pedagogy. As educators, they demonstrate all aspects of CT’s Code of Professional

    Teachers provide effective instruction to ensure that students learn core content knowledge and skills as well as the competencies and dispositions articulated in the FPS Vision of the Global Citizen. Teachers attend to the development of the whole child and adjust instruction to meet psychological, social and intellectual needs. Working as a vital member of a learning organization, teachers develop relationships with colleagues, parents, and students and work collaboratively to ensure that all children achieve academic and personal growth. Teachers demonstrate all aspects of CT’s Code of Professional Responsibility.

    Qualifications:

    • Must hold or be eligible for CT State Teaching Certification in Elementary 1-6 (305 or similar)
    • Consideration will be given to the following –

      • Relevant and recent experience
      • References that indicate excellent instructional skill, initiative, and a learner mindset
      • Philosophy that aligns with the district’s core beliefs
      • Various life experiences that enhance contributions to the overall district and/or school community

    Salary: $55,018 - $111,829 depending upon education and experience; part time positions are pro-rated
    Teacher salaries are set by contract, established through negotiations between the Board of Education and the Farmington Educator Association

    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    Teachers oversee and direct the work of paraprofessionals, tutors, and volunteers working in their classrooms
