Job Responsibilities
- Assessment and Evaluation:
- Assess students' skills and determine their educational needs.
- Conduct special education evaluations and reevaluations.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Instruction and IEP Development:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to meet each student's unique needs.
- Adapt general lessons to meet students' needs.
- Plan activities that are specific to each student's abilities.
- Teach and mentor students in various settings (class, small groups, one-on-one).
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and other professionals.
- Participate in school staff meetings, PPTs (Plan and Placement Teams), and Treatment Team meetings.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and IEP implementation.
- Classroom Management and Environment:
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Manage student behavior according to school policies and procedures.
- Provide a safe and structured environment.
- Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and IEP implementation.
- Follow state and local guidelines for record keeping and reporting.
