About the Role:
We are looking for a skilled ABE/ESL teacher who can provide effective instruction to adults in basic education and English language skills. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching adult English language learners and possess knowledge of ABE content standards and teaching practices. As an ABE/ESL educator, you will be responsible for creating lesson plans, monitoring student progress, and adapting instruction to meet individual needs. You will also work collaboratively with ABE staff and volunteers to ensure student and program needs and goals are met.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach ABE classes in accordance with Minnesota Department of Education Adult Basic Education Content Standards. Develop daily lesson plans for students and volunteers, using ABE curriculum. Monitor and assist students in meeting their goals and making Measurable Skill Gains on assessments. Integrate digital literacy into lessons as appropriate. Utilize state-approved distance learning platforms, assign lessons and homework, and integrate into regular instruction. Collect and report student information in a timely manner. Engage in regular, weekly student outreach and retention. Communicate with students regarding any schedule changes. Collaborate with ABE staff and volunteers to ensure student and program needs and goals are met.
Requirements:
Certified: Current MN teaching license or a bachelor's or master's degree in English as a second language, applied linguistics, or bilingual education, or a related degree as approved by the commissioner. Bachelor's Degree. Experience teaching Adult English Language Learners. Knowledge of ABE content standards, teaching practices, and challenges, as well as an understanding of adult learning and the unique needs of adult learners.
