Job Description:
We are seeking an MNA (Medication Nursing Assistant) to join our Farnum team! As an MNA, you will provide medication administration and documentation as well as prescription facilitation services to inhouse clients. This role requires the MNA to work cooperatively with all medical and clinical staff on the units and provide clients with prescribed scheduled and prn medications according to order from licensed practitioner.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Document all medication administration in client record (EHR), including any medication errors; discuss and document potential side effects with each client.
- Document and report any discrepancies in medication count of controlled substances.
- Observe clients following medication administration to prevent diversion and document any refusal or missed dosages
- Review, complete and submit requests for prior authorization; follow up with outstanding prior authorization requests.
- Review and assist with “Non-covered” medication faxes from Omnicare or other pharmacy and collaborate with medical staff to resolve; follow up on outstanding “Non-covered” medication forms.
- Complete Omnicare census to accurately reflect the presence or absence of clients in the building.
- Report any delays in obtaining client medications to the Director of Nursing
- Knowledge of and ability to remain compliant with State and Federal regulations relating to medication administration in residential setting as well as other accrediting agencies (CARF).
- Perform any diagnostic measures prior to medication administration, as ordered by licensed practitioner, i.e. blood pressure checks and blood sugar checks.
- Ensure all medications are labeled correctly with client name, medication name, dosage and directions.
- Consistently observe the 5 rights of medication administration: The right patient, The right medication (drug), The right dose, The right route, The right time
- Prepare client medications prior to discharge
- Comply with all policies, procedures at Farnum Center including responsibility as a mandated reporter.
- Communicate regularly with supervisor, and attend supervisory meeting as required.
- Demonstrate ability to receive supervision from multiple supervisors and, when appropriate, ability to cooperate with the client.
- Understand and respect the confidentiality of the consumer and family and maintain standards of professionalism at all times.
- Follow protocols and procedures for emergency situations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum eighteen (18) years of age
- Completed an approved training program as a medication nursing assistant with proof of certification from State approved program
- Six (6) months experience working as an LNA or MNA preferred
- Be able to work collaboratively meet the physical, emotional and mental health issues
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle (if applicable)
Hours/Schedule: This is a full-time, 40 hour/week position.
Compensation: Starting $23 hourly. Additional compensation based upon relative experience and education.
