What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Engineer position at Farouk Systems Inc?
The Process Engineer is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the production area. The Process Engineer is responsible for maintaining/exceeding productivity and maintaining a safe and organized work environment. Lead reports directly to production supervisors, and production manager.
Duties & Responsibilities Required:
- Work collaboratively with our Production Department, Quality Control, and Maintenance departments to develop and manage process specifications for all molder/mold combinations in the plant.
- Develop innovative techniques for monitoring our current molding process (including melt temperature measurement, SPC, and more) to enhance product quality and reduce errors.
- Develop KPI to minimize scrap, changeover times, and improve regrind use.
- Set specifications and monitor molding manufacturing processes to implement cost and quality improvements while maintaining all product specifications required by our customers.
- Work closely with our Plastics Department Supervisors to reduce waste and optimize cycle times through set up and scrap reduction and improved material and machine utilization.
- Establish and monitor PM procedures (cleaning, storage, restoration, etc.) for all molding equipment.
- Establish and monitor Process Log, Recipes, Set up Logs for all molding equipment.
- Provide technical input and support to the Engineering Department for new mold designs and modifications as needed.
- Assist in the development and provide ongoing support to molding department technicians and supervisors to enhance their current understanding of the molding process and communicate changes, as necessary.
- Evaluate and manage communications with outside supplier sources for molded parts, components, molds, and tooling, as necessary.
- Work closely with supervisor to stay on schedule and make sure all components are available when machine is ready to run.
- Develop and publish Standard Operations Procedures (SOP) for all department tasks and keep updated as needed.
- Enforce standard operating procedures, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Conduct personnel performance reviews, coaching and disciplinary activities for assigned personnel.
- Maintain production schedules making sure they are accurate and updated.
- Make sure all employees are trained properly.
- Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area.
- In the event of emergency or evacuation of the building, ensure all personnel in your area safely exit the building.
- Train all new and current employees on SOPs and Job Descriptions.
- Keep everything clean and organized.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Required:
- 1 years' experience with a bachelor’s degree in Plastic Engineering or similar discipline
- A minimum of 1 years’ experience providing support and managing Uniloy, Nissei or shuttle blow molders highly preferred
- A solid background in molding process management and engineering, including extrusion blow molding, injection stretch, and plastics injection molding.
- Plastics Extrusion Blow Molding experience is a required and Plastics Molding experience is highly preferred.
- Ability to be proactive and take initiative to improve processes within the departments.
- Strong computer skills a must
- Experience using computerized manufacturing and inventory systems a plus.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
- Experience in SAP a plus.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
