Description
Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Dispatcher, the Driver is responsible for providing excellent customer service and completing product deliveries timely and accurately, according to customer needs. This position covers the general CT area, with some driving to occur in nearby states. Very occasionally an overnight may be required.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Represent Farren International in a professional manner both while at delivery sites and while driving on the roadway
- Determine best route for delivery considering weather, time, equipment and road conditions
- Adhere to daily schedule
- Operate equipment according to established safety standards
- Constant communication with Dispatchers
- Follow all applicable DOT regulations
- Follow all Company policies
- Perform required pre and post-trip inspections and complete paperwork
- Use company provided ELD to remain in compliance with DOT regulations
- Report serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel
- Keep their truck and associated equipment clean and in good working order
- Safely load/unload and secure cargo
- May be required to read/interpret permits
- Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs
Requirements
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Must understand DOT regulations
- Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have a minimum of two years of truck driving experience
- Rigging experience a plus
License and Certification Requirements:
- Must have a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) in good standing for a minimum of two years.
- Must possess current DOT Health Card
- Clean MVR
Physical Demands and Essential Duties:
- Prolonged sitting/driving (up to eleven hours per day)
- Must be able to be on duty fourteen hours per day.
- Must be able to lift up 70 lbs.
- Reach overhead to grasp materials
- Twist, bend, stoop, squat to floor level
- Must be able to move 2,000 lbs. pallet of freight with a hand pallet jack if required at loading/unloading site.
- Local drivers may be required to stay out overnight from time to time.
- Load and unload cargo as needed
