In the role of Senior Traffic Engineer, primary responsibilities include acting as a Task / Project engineer supervised by the program manager directing the development and implementation of traffic control plans and maintenance of traffic during a design-build project including :
- Work as part of a traffic team under the direction of the Program Manager on a variety of traffic control design and analysis efforts for a variety of construction elements and phases of the transportation project.
- Conduct operational traffic analysis using a variety of modeling tools, ranging from highway capacity software to complex micro simulation models; analyze everything from isolated intersections and urban arterials and highway segments under stage construction conditions.
- Focus on traffic control design, including accident prevention and mitigation strategies, temporary signing, striping, traffic signals, lighting, and Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS) during various phases of construction.
- Perform other duties as needed per direction of the program manager and LAWA staff.
