Primary Responsibilities:
- Leads Business Development efforts for the Seattle office.
- Maintains existing external relationships (i.e. clients, industry contacts, key project stakeholders, academia, etc.) and fosters new relationships.
- Retains full responsibility for the technical soundness, efficiency, and overall performance of all projects in which they are involved. This responsibility includes fulfilling the Engineer of Record role.
- Assists with implementing the strategic direction identified by the Leadership Group as well as the key initiatives advanced by the Management Team.
- Supports the efforts of the Seattle office team, mentoring and supporting onboarding where applicable.
- Provides guidance and direction for the staff with whom they primarily interact. Associate Principals are required to work out of one of the firm’s primary office locations to fulfil this duty.
- Works to ensure team member effectiveness through building team relationships and task delegation that highlights individual skillsets with the overall team.
- Ensures timely feedback for those in the Seattle office from a performance management perspective.
- Occasional travel is required.
How you fit into the team:
- Reports to the Managing Principal.
- Accountable to the Leadership Group (Partners and Principals), primarily through interaction with the Managing Principal.
- Works closely and receive feedback from the Directors with whom they primarily interact.
What you bring to the table:
- Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- 10 years of experience in engineering; Structural engineering preferred.
- Maintains a Washington State P.E. registration at a minimum, S.E. registration is preferred.
- Mass timber experience would be considered an asset.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience managing client relationships and actively engaging in business development activities within Seattle (USA Northwest region would be considered an asset).
- Able to organize and effectively communicate with internal and external team members.
- Expert level skills at owning and designing and driving a team to deliver on business critical cross-functional projects and initiatives.
- Extremely proficient at leading, managing, and executing multiple projects.
- Possesses strong communication and report writing skills. Able to give public presentations on behalf of the company.
- Possesses strong management and skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
