As an On-site Mobile Diesel Technician with Fast Fleet, you’ll ensure our client’s vehicles operate efficiently and safely. This role involves independently diagnosing and performing preventive maintenance on light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and trailers in a mobile setting, where no two days are the same. From handling basic repairs to conducting DOT inspections and managing inventory on your company-issued service truck, you’ll take ownership of your daily schedule, prioritize tasks, and apply technical expertise to keep fleets on the road. - Weekly payroll frequency
- Hourly pay: $22 to $26 per house based on experience
- $1,000 sign-on bonus after 90 days
- Typical schedule: Monday - Friday (7 am to 4 pm)
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certifications a plus
- Minimum 3 years of experience with diagnostics and mechanical repairs for heavy-duty and medium-duty vehicles
- Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card within 72 hours of hire
- Capability to handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
- Must supply a set of hand tools required for job duties
- Pass Fast Fleet's background check, 3-year MVR check, drug test, and DOT physical

Responsibilities and Job Duties
- Decision Making: Independently diagnose and troubleshoot vehicle issues, performing necessary repairs with minimal guidance.
- Repair & Maintenance: Conduct preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, and comprehensive repairs for light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in field environments.
- Technical Expertise: Perform and manage repairs on various vehicle systems,
- including electrical, cooling, brake, and fuel systems; execute basic and advanced diagnostic assessments.
- Inventory and Equipment Management: Maintain, track, and manage parts inventory and tools on the assigned service truck.
- Documentation: Complete DOT and company-required forms and documentation accurately and promptly.
- Communication: Engage in effective two-way communication with team members and management for support and guidance.
- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine checks and maintain vehicle systems, including brakes, steering, suspension, and A/C and heater systems.
Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Vehicle Repair Responsibilities:
- A/C and Heater: Assess cooling function; check compressor power, condenser, and belt tension; identify Freon and oil leaks.
- Air Brakes: Inspect air brake components; listen for irregular noises and air leaks; perform basic system tests, measure components, and adjust brakes.
- Hydraulic Brakes: Conduct road tests; inspect for leaks; check fluid levels and brake operation; adjust and repair brakes as needed.
- Cargo Handling/Liftgates: Identify leaks, check fluid levels, operate lift gates, make minor adjustments, and identify common issues.
- Charging Systems: Inspect batteries, connections, and belts; test and replace as necessary; perform standard charging system checks.
- Clutch: Lubricate key components; ensure proper clutch and clutch brake operation.
- Cooling System: Check coolant levels, inspect for leaks, replace hoses, and conduct system flushes; use refractometers and pressure testers.
- Cranking System: Inspect and test batteries and cables; clean and replace components as needed.
- Lighting/Electrical Accessories: Address minor wiring issues, replace bulbs and assemblies, and install accessories.
- Drive Axles: Inspect for leaks, change oil, and maintain clean breathers.
- Driveline: Lubricate and inspect for wear.
- Engines: Check and adjust oil levels; listen for unusual noises and detect leaks.
- Fuel Systems: Replace filters, and inspect fuel lines and components.
- General PM: Conduct lube services, check tires, brakes, batteries, and components, and identify initial fault codes.
- Steering/Alignment: Lubricate fittings, adjust fluid levels, check steering components, and ensure trailer alignment.
- Suspension/Chassis: Identify wear on bushings, broken springs, and other common issues.
- Tires/Wheels: Check air pressure and tread; replace tires, rotate, and conduct basic tire inspections.
- Coupling System: Lubricate and test the fifth wheel and slider mechanisms.
