We are a large and growing law firm actively seeking an experience Paralegal Manager to join our Charleston, SC office. The ideal candidate is interested in growing their career with our team of staff and attorneys, who value and foster open and honest communication.
As a Paralegal Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of paralegals including managing performance, workflow & professional development. Additionally, you will be instrumental in helping to implement policies and procedures to increase efficiency and help the firm continue to grow. The successful candidate will ensure the alignment of team operations with the firm's goals and client service expectations.
Job Duties:
- Maintain an individual caseload and job duties of the Paralegal Manager position. Including, but not limited to, documenting case actions, interacting with clients to provide updates, assisting with medical treatment, and educating on the personal injury process, while reviewing evidence, medical records, and drafting demands.
- Actively engage with other teams and individual lawyers in order to better understand their needs and the expertise and strengths of the paralegals to ensure high quality legal work.
- Coach, mentor, and advocate for Paralegals, fostering a supportive and equitable work environment.
- Evaluate and address training needs for Paralegals, ensuring skill enhancement and alignment with firm requirements
- Troubleshoot workflow or personnel challenges and implement effective solutions to ensure uninterrupted support
- Ensure the team is in compliance with firm policies, procedures, and case deadlines.
- Approve and manage time-off requests to ensure adequate team coverage.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Ability to communicate and work with all levels of personnel, strong conflict management and coaching skills
- Able to collaborate with Attorneys, Office Administrators, and Firm Leadership to address paralegal support needs across the firm
- Monitor, analyze, and assess paralegal productivity on an ongoing basis and implement improvements as needed
- Coordinate workflow and staffing to ensure effective utilization of resources
- Develop objective assessment criteria and establish standards to enhance paralegal skills and ensure high-quality work product
- Collaborate with other departments to promote cross-utilization and optimize paralegal staff deployment
- Participate in firm-wide and departmental initiatives to streamline workflows and procedures, ensuring efficiency and consistency
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a law firm is strongly preferred.
- At least 5 years of proven experience as a Case Manager or Paralegal.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated analytical ability; ability to set priorities; knows ethical boundaries of position and when to consult with management; responsible; resourceful.
- In-depth understanding of Personal Injury law practices and procedures
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to build, motivate, and manage a high-performing team
- Strong critical thinking skills and ability to use good judgement in solving problems and resolving conflict.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
