OVERVIEW:
Working as Full-time Senior Electrical Engineer, you will work with a specific focus on Fastenal Solutions in the West Chester, OH office. Your role will include the creation of detailed electrical design packages to support design reviews, testing, certifications, and production for our Solutions portfolio. You will also manage and expand relationships with internal and outsourced development partners on electrical hardware design and development. This position may offer a flexible schedule after a period of onboarding, training, and meeting performance goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
o Designing and developing next generation embedded system electronics used in various automated vending and dispensing solutions, sensor devices and Point-of-Use systems
o Defining embedded processor and related electronics projects from concept to production including specifications and design documents
o Ensuring the embedded electronics are suitable for high volume production and meet customer and applicable regulatory requirements
o Designing electronic schematics and assist with layout for advanced Printed Circuit Board (PCB) assemblies
o Designing and developing communication protocols and methods between sub-components of embedded systems
o Assisting in the creation and maintenance of PCB libraries
o Prototyping, debugging and iterating designs
o Providing technical assistance and support to internal staff and manufacturing and distribution partners
o Designing engineering validation and production test fixtures
o Mentoring less experienced engineers
o Completing various other tasks and responsibilities
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
The following skills and qualifications are required for this position:
o Possess a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
o Possess at least 10 years of electrical engineering experience including design and development
o Apply appropriate regulatory requirements to specific hardware designs
o Work individually as well as in a team environment
o Highly motivated, self directed and customer service oriented
o Excellent written and oral communication skills
o Demonstrate strong analytical, testing and debugging skills
o Demonstrate strong organization, planning and prioritizing abilities
o Demonstrate understanding of microcontrollers with a mastery of computer architecture, digital electronic design, data communication, control engineering, motors and actuators, sensors and measurements
o Exhibit strong problem solving, deductive reasoning and decision making skills
o Demonstrate strong math aptitude, attention to detail and sense of urgency
o Demonstrate our core values of ambition, innovation, integrity and teamwork
o Pass the required drug screen and background check (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico and Guam ONLY)
PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
o Experience with Altium Designer
o Experience designing and developing embedded system electronics from concept to production
o Demonstrate working knowledge and experience with various interfaces, hardware/software programs, and debugging/testing equipment
o Experience with Engineering root cause analysis & debugging processes
o Prior experience sourcing hardware components
o Prior experience with architecture and specification development
