JOB TITLE: Orthopedic Medical Scribe - Florida Advanced Spine and Orthopedics
REPORTS TO: VP and or SVP of Operations
SUPERVISES: None
OVERTIME STATUS: Nonexempt
JOB SUMMARY:
As a Medical Scribe at Florida Advanced Spine and Orthopedics, you will work under the direction of our general orthopedic physicians. You will be responsible for assisting our physicians in documenting patient encounters by transcribing the patients' medical information accurately, efficiently and while following HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient confidentiality and privacy.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Patient Documentation: Accompanying the physician during patient visits to document the patient's medical history, physical examination findings, and treatment plans in real time.
• Electronic Health Records (EHR): Entering medical data into eClinical works EHR system, including diagnoses, symptoms, and follow up instructions.
• Clerical Tasks: Assisting with clerical duties such as writing referral letters, printing lab reports, and organizing medical records.
• Charting: Recording the physician's interactions with patients, including patient concerns and physician assessments.
• Prescriptions: Assisting with the process of electronically prescribing medications.
OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
As indicated by the VP and or SVP of Operations.
EDUCATION:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Graduation from an accredited/certified scribe training program, medical assistant training program, and or other healthcare related program including medical school, P.A., N.P. CRNA, RN education programs.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Additional tasks, as requested, based upon the role.
The ability to travel to our various office locations to fulfill our patient and provider needs.

EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of one (1) year of medical scribe experience in a hospital or medical group setting, preferably in spine and orthopedics.
- Proficient and or experience with eClinical works preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Attention to Detail: Accurately recording physicians' notes and patient information is crucial.
• Computer Literacy: Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems and general computer skills.
• Medical Terminology Knowledge: Understanding medical terms, anatomy, and diagnostic names.
• Communication Skills: Effectively communicating with healthcare providers and patients.
• Time Management: Efficiently managing time to keep up with the fast-paced clinical environment.
• Bedside Manner: Maintaining a professional and compassionate demeanor when interacting with patients.
• Physical Stamina: Being able to stand and move around for extended periods of time.
• Quick Typing: Typing quickly and accurately to document patient encounters in real time.
