Job Summary:
The Surgical ARNP will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of our surgical team by providing advanced nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures, participating in office-based visits and clinical care, and starting with simpler cases in the Operating Room (OR) before advancing their experience level with our surgeons. The ARNP will also be familiar and competent in participating in the performance of orthopedic and spinal surgical procedures, conduct rounds at hospitals for our providers, and fulfill the important responsibility of entering orders on the day of surgery.
Objectives of this Role:
- Conduct pre-operative assessments of patients to determine their medical status and readiness for surgery.
- Develop and implement individualized patient care plans based on medical history, surgical requirements, and patient needs.
- Administer medication, including anesthesia, as needed, and monitor patients throughout the surgical procedure.
- Assist the surgical team during the operation by anticipating needs and providing support.
- Monitor patients post-operatively, manage pain, prevent complications, and promote healing.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other nurses.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure safe, effective, and efficient patient care.
- Participate in ongoing education and professional development to maintain current knowledge and skills.
Skills and Qualifications
- Highly skilled at assessing patients prior to surgery and providing them with perioperative care
- Extensive knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques
- Ability to collaborate with surgeons and other healthcare professionals
- Solid understanding of patient health and safety standards
- Excellent organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Nursing
- Must hold current license/registration to practice
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must have the ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion
- Familiar and competent in participating in the performance of orthopedic and spinal surgical procedures
- Proficiency in EHR medical charting system and other computer software needed
