Job Title: OHS Technician III
The OHS Technician III plays a crucial role in supporting the company's Safety Management System (SMS) by executing OHS program elements. This position requires active communication with the OHS Manager for Commissioning purposes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain knowledge of facility layouts and complete duties with minimal supervision.
- Counsel non-English speaking vendors and technical advisors on regulatory requirements during commissioning equipment.
- Master OHS processes and utilize OHS equipment, tools, and reporting systems confidently.
- Conduct OHS audits and inspection processes for eyewash, emergency showers, and fire extinguishers without supervision.
- Deliver OHS training; conduct orientations and onboarding as needed.
- Respond to incidents, implement containment actions, and gather information for incident investigation purposes.
- Investigate OHS incidents independently, identify corrective/preventative actions, classify them, and file them properly.
- Produce high-quality OHS Incident Reports and other reports.
- Monitor processes for regulatory compliance and have a base knowledge of regulatory standards and good industry practices.
- Create OHS programs or training materials, identify training needs, and assist in creating a thorough training/employee evaluation process.
- Partner with production supervisors, managers, and frontline employees to support implementing setting strategies.
- Apply comprehensive OHS Technician knowledge and skills in specific areas and tasks.
- Spot, report, and prevent incidents on site; communicate clearly and interactively with employees and coach them.
- Write OHS incident reports daily, monthly, and annually.
- Walk various processes and environments; build relationships with employees, supervisors, and managers; become familiar with various machines, equipment, and production processes.
- Utilize Behavior Based Programs to promote proactive solutions.
- Support areas across the plant in driving the adoption of 6S practices.
- Work effectively and efficiently in team-based and independent working environments to reduce costs and add value to the organization.
- Perform additional tasks, duties, and responsibilities assigned by OHS management.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
To ensure health and safety in the workplace and protect employees, wearing PPE is mandatory, including equipment such as safety shoes, clean suits, dust masks or respirators, gloves, safety glasses/safety goggles, hair nets, etc. In some instances, a full Tyvek suit is required for certain areas.
Requirements:
- A High School Diploma or GED is required; a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Biology, Chemistry, or a related science or technical field from an accredited college or university is preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
- Working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Solid listening and communication skills and adaptability.
- Ability to interact and create cohesion with other team members.
- Must be personable and exhibit professionalism.
