Technician

Position Purpose / Summary

The Building Maintenance Technician is committed to providing the highest quality of service to the communities, customers, and employees we serve by performing a wide variety of tasks requiring skills in the building trades, including carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, heating, and cooling.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Performs rough and finish carpentry and drywall tasks.
• Installs, repairs and / or replaces doors, windows, building hardware, fencing, flooring, ceiling, shelving, cabinet, and counters.
• Performs general maintenance and repairs of roof systems.
• Prepare surfaces for painting and uses painting equipment such as power sprayer, rollers, and brushes.
• Inspects, installs, troubleshoots and repairs plumbing fixtures.
• Inspects, installs, and repairs electrical fixtures. Includes changing ballasts and bulbs.
• Performs preventive maintenance on HVAC Systems. Includes changing filters and cleaning condensate drains.
• Builds, assembles, installs and or repairs facility furnishing and fixtures.
• Estimates materials, labor and time needed for projects.
• Cleans and maintains tools, equipment, materials, and worksite.
• Assures safety standards are used that comply with company, local, state, and federal guidelines.
• Performs repair and construction work involved in the upkeep of office buildings and other facilities.
• Performs outside maintenance duties, including basic grounds keeping.
• Performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as angles, fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Must be willing and able to work independently with little to no supervision.

Qualifications

At a minimum, the Building Maintenance Technician must have a high school diploma or equivalent and five years of related experience.

A CPR certification is preferred, and a valid driver’s license is required.
