What are the responsibilities and job description for the Systems Administrator position at Father Flanagan's Boys' Home?

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems.
Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements.
Perform server administration tasks (ex: user/group, security permissions, group policies, print services); research event-log warnings and errors; and monitor resources to ensure that systems architecture components work together seamlessly.
Researches and recommends new approaches to improve the networked computer system.
Researches upcoming products, service protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts.
Accomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Leads process improvements and modifications.
Upgrades systems with new releases and models.
Maintains internal documentation through a knowledge base.
Provides documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure.
Develops expertise to train staff on new technologies.
Generates reports on a regular and as-needed basis.
Works with vendors and business units as needed to provide support.
Troubleshoots issues and outages.
Assists the Service Desk and other teams with troubleshooting to identify root cause and provide technical support when needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Solid understanding of IT principles and concepts
Experience configuring and maintaining a variety of modern desktop and server operating systems.
Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols.
Ability to create scripts in Python, PowerShell, or other modern languages.
Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels in the organization and with external contacts in an articulate, professional, clear, and non-technical manner.
Excellent dedication to customer service, project follow through, and the ability to adjust to changing requirements, schedules, and priorities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree in computer science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Minimum 4 years of experience required.
Experience with modern monitoring and logging tools required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Position is relatively sedentary in a normal office administrative environment involving minimum exposure to physical risks. Will use office equipment such as a computer/laptop, monitor, keyboard, and a general workstation set-up.
