Faulkner University is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs . The selected individual will be the University's secondary chief academic officer, directly assisting the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) with overseeing academic programs, research, personnel, and support services. This individual will also provide assistance with academic leadership for ensuring the quality of instruction and research through collaborative work with deans, department chairs, and faculty. We are seeking candidates who demonstrate a commitment to Christ-centered Liberal Arts education, Christian service, and the University's mission. Faulkner University is a Christian university affiliated with the churches of Christ.
This is a full-time position. Faculty rank, tenure status and salary will be commensurate with academic qualifications, teaching experience, and research.
Summary of Duties include :
- Assist the VPAA to ensure all policies are implemented and supported by the programs and activities within Academic Affairs
- Oversight of academic operations at locations in Mobile, Huntsville, and Birmingham
- Oversight and preparation of reports related to requests from federal, state and accreditation agencies
- Oversee the institutional planning process and strategic planning related to academics
- Oversee academic support services and units (including personnel evaluations)
- Oversee academic, student legal issues (including the Student Compliant process) within Academic Affairs
- Oversee grant efforts and new faculty orientations
- Assist with oversight of the tenure and promotion process
- Collaborate with internal and external entities to plan, develop and assess retention efforts
- Teach two courses per year in an academic discipline consistent with academic qualifications
