Faust Consulting Engineers is seeking a self-motivated electrical engineer with 5-10 years’ experience in power system analysis and design. Faust Consulting Engineers provides design and construction services from concept design through close-out primarily for industrial and large commercial power systems. To that end, the candidate will have had exposure to SKM as well as familiarity with protective relaying, device coordination and short circuit current ratings of equipment.
The candidate will be exposed to field surveys and client meetings on a normal basis. This includes auditing and documenting electrical systems for Fortune 100 companies including petrochemical, pharmaceutical, power generation, data centers and renewable energy and CHP firms. The candidate will be under the supervision of licensed professional engineers who are leaders in the field and will help the candidate grow professionally towards licensure in multiple states.
Candidate shall be capable of the following, at a minimum:
- Field surveying to develop accurate single line diagrams and layouts for projects involving industrial/large commercial power distribution systems.
- Designing basic power distribution systems by developing construction drawings and specifications.
- Reviewing and/or performing short circuit, protective device coordination and arc flash hazard analyses.
Significant training will be provided with potential to become a project manager in the aforementioned key client business stream.
At a minimum, candidate shall possess a B.S.E.E. from an ABET accredited institution to permit licensure and experience in the above areas. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and/or SKM is preferred, in addition to familiarity with NFPA 70, 70E, 99 and 101.

SCOPE OF POSITION:
Performs conventional to moderately complex engineering, design, analysis, and other technical tasks utilizing current technology and available standards, templates, and cataloged products. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Creates original designs and products. Requires minimal supervision. May perform in a technical leadership role supervising, coordinating, and directing others in the production of customer-focused products and services that meet established project requirements. Participates in business development activities including sales, proposal preparation and client presentations. Continually develops improvements to work process and design approaches.
TYPICAL ASSIGNMENTS:
- Intermediate-level engineering assignment to a project or organizational team, or as a Lead Engineer for a specific discipline on an intermediate to large-sized project.
- Independently develops and/or supervises the creation of engineering documents that meet customer quality requirements; typical responsibilities may include detailed calculations and analyses, drawing review, technical reports, proposal evaluations, design and installation packages and development of specifications.
- Responsible for selection, layout and sizing of applicable systems and equipment.
- Site surveys existing facilities and evaluates equipment and system conditions as well as develop one-lines and existing equipment layout drawings.
- Provides support for other department activities as required.
- May supervise one or more employees and provide input regarding performance.
PERFORMANCE AND PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS:
- Perform independently with minimal supervision and direction.
- Proficient in use of communication technology, information systems, and automated tools including PC and related software (SKM systems analysis, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite) necessary to perform assigned duties.
- Perform power system and arc flash studies using SKM software.
- Set up and execute spreadsheets and analysis programs; retrieve archived products for reuse; and create or amend technical text documents.
- Recognize when a task may be made more efficient by application of automation tools and is able to apply those tools effectively and assist in development of automation enhancements.
- Adhere to assigned budgets and schedules, monitor performance, delegate assignments, review work and communicate status to Supervisor.

EDUCATION:
BS in Engineering or scientific field from accredited college or university preferred, or equivalent experience required; Engineer-In-Training or P.E. licensed preferred.
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 5 to 10 years post-graduate level experience; or minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience as an Associate / Sr. Associate Engineer or equivalent and demonstrated aptitude for performing work at the Engineer level.
