JOB SUMMARY
Fawley Bryant Architecture is seeking a talented and driven Senior Architectural Project Designer with a passion for innovative leadership and artistic design. This pivotal role requires a proactive leader adept at initiating and refining project designs from concept to completion, incorporating a design thesis format that articulates clear, compelling architectural narratives. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of structural, MEP, and civil engineering principles, essential for seamlessly integrating the architectural vision with critical technical elements. A comprehensive understanding of architectural history and project precedents is also ideal, enriching the design process with depth and context. Licensure is preferred but it is equally important that you have the ability to inspire, organize, and deliver exceptional designs that are both technically sound and artistically compelling.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Lead the design team, fostering an environment of creativity, technical precision, and artistic expression.
- Develop innovative design concepts that adhere to a design thesis format, articulating the conceptual and aesthetic essence of projects. Leverage a deep knowledge of architectural history to inform design decisions and project precedents.
- Conduct regular audits to review drawings and designs for their constructability, adherence to technical specifications, and alignment with artistic visions.
- Ensure high-quality graphic standards for design presentations and documents, reflecting an artful approach to architecture.
- Organize and lead design charrettes, engaging technical experts and creative minds to refine architectural solutions.
- Coordinate, prepare for, and conduct client meetings, effectively presenting design concepts and integrating client feedback into both technical and creative aspects of project development.
- Serve as a key point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication of technical and conceptual aspects of projects.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Proficient in conveying complex technical and artistic information effectively through written formats, oral presentations, and detailed sketches.
- Strong ability to sketch and visually communicate design ideas quickly and effectively.
- Excellent writing and communication skills, capable of crafting detailed design narratives and articulating complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Ability to provide clients with tailored design recommendations considering budget constraints, site limitations, and current engineering trends.
- Skill in reworking and modifying designs based on technical constraints and client feedback while maintaining the integrity of the artistic vision.
- Exceptional multitasking and prioritization skills in a dynamic project environment.
- Strong leadership capabilities to direct, delegate, and inspire a team while fostering a culture of creativity and high morale.
- Demonstrates initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership in complex project scenarios.
- Self-motivated with a confident approach to problem-solving and client interactions.
- Proficient in Revit, SketchUp, Lumion, and other design and simulation software.
- Committed to the mentorship and development of interns and junior team members, with a focus on technical skills, professional growth, and artistic development.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10 years of experience
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture
- Experience in the commercial, sports, and education market segments
- Licensure preferred.
- LEED or equivalent designation in sustainable design desired but not required
