The Loan Officer proactively solicits new residential mortgage business and sells correspondent and approved brokered mortgage products to meet established loan quality and production goals. This role is located in a retail environment, and the candidate will utilize their network to reach out to potential customers and understand their needs.
In this on-going sales role, the Loan Officer continually works with internal customers provided by affiliate referrals along with their self generated customer base to educate and assist in the Refinance and/or Purchase Loan Application Process. Must understand how the structure of these loans benefit the consumer in the long-term. Truly understanding all loan product options in order to properly help the customer choose their best solution is critical for this role.
The MLO conducts interviews with prospective borrowers in order to analyze financial and credit data, determine customer financing objectives, advise customers of product/pricing policies and guidelines, and gather any additional required information. The MLO ensures exceptional customer service by maintaining thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, demonstrating a commitment to professional ethics, complying with all Federal and State compliance policies and adhering to HMDA requirements.
Core Functions and Responsibilities:
· Generate referral business from active customers as well as self-generate sales from personal network.
· Work on a team to help ensure all customers get the highest level of service.
· Set proper expectations with borrowers throughout the loan application process.
· Understand how to educate customers on the benefits of loan structure.
· Effectively utilize lead management system to properly track and manage leads provided throughout their lifecycle.
· Evaluate loan applications and documentation for credit worthiness
· Maintain a high level of customer service by clearly communicating terms of loan options, follow-up, and is always available to answer questions
· Maintain and follow compliance around Clean Desk Policy and borrower sensitive information
· Continue to evolve knowledge base around new loan programs and product/guideline updates
· Knowledge of residential mortgage loan processing, underwriting, and closing procedures a must
· Knowledge of conventional and/or government lending guidelines highly recommended
· Experience originating and closing purchase loans
· Proactively manage a loan pipeline and attend internal sales meetings
· Develop domain knowledge of Fay’s business to include an understanding of organizational objectives.
· Develop positive working relationships within the team and across the organization.
· Ensure compliance with Fay’s policies, processes, and practices. Successfully complete all department and company required training.

Qualifications Required:
· Residential loan origination experience preferred and must have an active NMLS license (multiple states preferred)
· Strong multi-tasking, self-management, and self-motivating skills
· Proven ability to adapt to a changing environment while maintaining a positive mental attitude
· Strong sales skills with proven track record
· Proficient computer and keyboard aptitude; familiarity with basic Office applications
· Hands-On knowledge of loan originations platform (Encompass preferred)
· Some college required. Four year college or university preferred
· Solid skills and experience in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
