The Labor and Delivery Nurse plays a critical role in the healthcare team, providing comprehensive care to expectant mothers throughout the labor and delivery process. Responsibilities
- Monitor the health status of mothers and newborns during labor and delivery.
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families.
- Administer medications, IV infusions, and other treatments as prescribed.
- Assist with procedures such as catheterization, suturing, and other interventions as needed.
- Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans.
- Respond promptly to any complications or emergencies during labor.
- Educate patients about postpartum care, infant feeding, and home care practices.
Skills
- Experience working with children is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in administering dermal fillers may be an asset.
- Knowledge of ophthalmology practices can enhance patient care.
