We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Hospice Nurse to join our team. In this role, you will provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a hospice setting, ensuring comfort and dignity during their end-of-life journey. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and assessments of patients to determine their healthcare needs.
- Manage airway issues and provide emergency medicine as necessary to ensure patient safety.
- Administer injections and medications according to established protocols and patient care plans.
- Document all medical information accurately in Cerner and maintain comprehensive medical records.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
- Provide education and support to patients and families regarding end-of-life care options and resources.
- Assist in managing symptoms associated with terminal illnesses, focusing on pain relief and comfort measures.
- Participate in regular team meetings to discuss patient progress and adjust care plans as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment for patients receiving hospice care.
Requirements
- Valid nursing license with experience in hospice or palliative care preferred.
- Proficient in airway management techniques and emergency medicine practices.
- Familiarity with nursing home environments and memory care is a plus.
- Strong skills in medical documentation, particularly using Cerner or similar electronic health record systems.
- Experience administering injections and performing basic life support is essential.
- Previous experience in an ICU setting is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Excellent communication skills, empathy, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with compassion while maintaining professionalism at all times.
