Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Hospice Nurse to join our team. In this role, you will provide high-quality nursing care to patients with life-limiting illnesses in a hospice setting. You will work closely with patients, their families, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure comfort and dignity during the end-of-life process. Your expertise in various medical fields will be essential in managing symptoms and providing emotional support.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to hospice patients, focusing on pain management and symptom control.
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including IV insertion when necessary.
- Provide education and support to patients' families regarding care options and end-of-life issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care in compliance with regulatory standards using electronic health records systems such as Cerner.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and adjust care plans as needed.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and infection control measures while providing care.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Experience in hospice or palliative care preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in IV insertion and acute pain management techniques.
- Familiarity with MDS (Minimum Data Set) assessments is a plus.
- Background in primary care, hospital medicine, emergency medicine, trauma medicine, or infectious disease care is desirable.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide empathetic support to patients and families.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team environment.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards of practice.
