Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Hospice Nurse to provide high-quality care to patients in their final stages of life. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills and a deep understanding of the emotional and physical needs of patients and their families. This role involves working closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comfort, dignity, and support for both patients and their loved ones during this critical time.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to hospice patients, focusing on pain management, symptom control, and emotional support.
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ health status, including behavioral health needs.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with physicians, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Provide education and support to patients’ families regarding end-of-life care options and resources.
- Monitor vital signs and administer medications as prescribed while ensuring proper ventilatory support when necessary.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, utilizing critical care skills as needed in various settings including ER or Level I Trauma Center environments.
- Ensure all medical records are up-to-date and reflect the patient’s condition accurately.
Qualifications
- Current nursing license in the state of practice.
- Experience in hospice care or palliative care preferred.
- Strong background in trauma medicine or critical care is a plus.
- Familiarity with medical documentation practices and HIPAA compliance is essential.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a compassionate approach towards patient care.
- Knowledge of inhalation therapy techniques may be beneficial for patient management.
- Previous experience in a Level I Trauma Center or ER setting is advantageous but not required.
