Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our team at a leading teaching hospital. In this critical role, you will provide exceptional care to expectant mothers during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the health and safety of both mother and baby, utilizing your expertise in critical care and case management.
Duties
- Monitor and assess the health status of mothers and newborns throughout labor and delivery.
- Provide education and support to patients regarding childbirth, postpartum recovery, and infant care.
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans.
- Assist in triage processes to determine the urgency of patient needs.
- Perform necessary medical procedures related to labor and delivery, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with hospital policies.
- Provide emotional support to patients and families during labor and delivery.
- Participate in emergency medicine procedures as needed, ensuring a swift response to any complications.
Requirements
- Current nursing license in the state of practice.
- Experience in Labor and Delivery nursing preferred; experience in PICU or critical care is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy related to childbirth and newborn care.
- Familiarity with outpatient services related to maternal health.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient education and collaboration with healthcare teams.
- Ability to perform case management duties effectively, ensuring comprehensive patient care.
- Previous experience in triage is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Must demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality care in a fast-paced environment.
