We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional care to expectant mothers during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. You will work closely with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a safe and positive birthing experience for both mother and child. Your expertise in patient assessment and critical care will be essential in managing any complications that may arise during labor.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess the health status of mothers and newborns throughout the labor process.
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families regarding labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
- Administer medications and interventions as prescribed by physicians.
- Assist in the delivery of infants, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans for patients.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to identify any potential complications or needs.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient information, assessments, and interventions.
- Stay updated on best practices in maternal care and participate in ongoing professional development.
Requirements
- Current nursing license (RN) in the state of practice.
- Experience in Labor and Delivery nursing preferred; strong background in acute care is beneficial.
- Skills in patient assessment, critical care, geriatrics, or dementia care are advantageous.
- Knowledge of procedures such as cardiac catheterization, spinal tap, or botulinum toxin treatment is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining a calm demeanor.
- Excellent communication skills to foster positive relationships with patients and their families.
