Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our healthcare team. In this critical role, you will provide exceptional care to expectant mothers during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the health and safety of both mother and baby, utilizing your expertise in inpatient care and diagnostic evaluation.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess the health status of mothers and newborns throughout the labor process.
- Provide support and education to patients regarding labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
- Utilize aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment during delivery.
- Perform triage assessments to determine the urgency of care required for incoming patients.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications as prescribed and manage pain relief options for patients.
- Document all patient interactions accurately in medical records.
- Educate families on newborn care, breastfeeding, and recovery processes.
Qualifications
- Current nursing license in good standing.
- Experience in inpatient nursing preferred; background in medical office or primary care is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of physiology related to labor and delivery processes.
- Familiarity with diagnostic evaluation techniques relevant to maternal-fetal health.
- Understanding of workers' compensation law as it pertains to maternity care is beneficial.
- Proficient in medical imaging procedures related to obstetrics.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide empathetic patient support.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining a calm demeanor.
