Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional care to expectant mothers during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. The Labor and Delivery Nurse will collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best outcomes for mothers and their newborns.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the health status of mothers and newborns throughout labor and delivery.
- Administer medications as prescribed and manage pain relief options for patients.
- Provide emotional support and education to expectant mothers and their families.
- Assist in the development of individualized care plans based on patient needs.
- Perform basic life support as necessary during emergencies.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for comprehensive case management.
- Conduct health coaching sessions to promote wellness before, during, and after childbirth.
- Ensure a safe environment by adhering to hospital protocols regarding infection control and patient safety.
- Facilitate ostomy care when required for patients with specific needs.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:
- Proven experience in a hospital setting, particularly in labor and delivery units.
- Proficiency in medication administration and pain management techniques.
- Familiarity with geriatrics is a plus, as some patients may have specific age-related considerations.
- Experience with durable medical equipment (DME) is advantageous.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; additional certifications in advanced life support may be beneficial.
- Strong lifting capabilities to assist patients safely during labor and delivery processes.
