Job Title: Computer Technician
Supervised by/Reports to: Technology Coordinator
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Job Goals:
Provide technical support and maintenance for computer and network hardware, software and additional peripheral devices
Assist the County Technology Coordinator in all phases of the technology department
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate Degree in Technology or related field preferred
Verified successful work experience as a computer technician preferred
Strong technical skills in networking
Skilled in technology integration and network troubleshooting
Experience with Microsoft Desktop and Microsoft Server operating systems
Experience in hardware and software troubleshooting
Experience in hardware configuration and upgrades
Experience in software installation and configurations
Extensive knowledge and experience in computer networking (Local and Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN), cabling, and demonstrated skills in computer hardware/software installation, maintenance and repair
Ability to work with people of all ages and levels of technical skills while maintaining a positive and patient attitude
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Computer installation, maintenance, and repair at all schools and central office
Install and/or maintain software applying current updates, uploading users, and making configuration changes where applicable
Assist staff with hardware use, connectivity, and/or problems including but not limited to, computer workstations; laptops; Chromebooks; iPads; handheld devices; printers; projection devices; video filming, editing and production equipment; data projectors; document cameras; interactive panels
Provide technical support for software used by students and staff
Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state/federal rules and regulations
Manages purchase orders and reconciles them to packing slips and deliveries
Assist with inventory management for the district
Provide support with PowerSchool, Schoology, and other student information systems
Assist staff with software selections and usage
Assist in developing and managing the technology plan, budget, and inventory
Enter and monitor local school technical support requests involving voice, video, data, software and hardware
Manage student and staff user accounts as directed the the technology coordinator
Maintain current information concerning student and staff access, security and overall data governance
Attend appropriate workshops and seminars to maintain personal knowledge
Provides professional development training to support technology-based initiatives
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Technology Coordinator and/or Superintendent of Education.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve (12) month contract in accordance with the approved salary schedule for Assistant Technology Coordinator/Technician
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the State Department of Education and/or Fayette County Board of Education’s Policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
