Job Summary
The Elections Clerk serves as the lead staff member on all responsibilities related to the oversight and implementation of elections administration in Fayette County. This position oversees critical functions upholding election integrity in our county. This work is fast-paced and requires independent thinking and strong time management skills. The Elections Clerk position does require working outside traditional office hours during periods of the year, such as elections season. Preference will be given to any individual with demonstrated prior experience in or knowledge of elections administration, or familiarity with the functions of the County Clerk's Office.
Duties
- Plan, organize, and help conduct all federal, state, and local elections, under the
- guidance of the County Clerk.
- Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws governing elections.
- Oversee voter registration, including planning and executing outreach events to
- encourage voters, such as high school students, to register to vote.
- Recruit, retain, and train local election officials (pollworkers) for all elections.
- Maintain all records, including voter registration records and election materials, in accordance with all Federal, State, and Local laws.
- Maintain voting elections equipment, under the supervision of the County Clerk.
Experience
- Be a registered voter in West Virginia, preferably in Fayette County.
- Have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, college degree or professional certification preferred.
- Be familiar with or have a strong interest in the laws surrounding election administration, including relevant legislation in West Virginia.
- Have experience with various technology, including Microsoft Office products, web-based applications, and online mapping.
- Be able to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment that frequently involves non-traditional working hours.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.42 - $15.38 per hour
